basic palette action [Answered]

I may be in the minority here but I like having all my docked palettes open and scrooooollling up and down - I kinda get used to where certain functions are in the scroll.

My ‘problem’ is that if I accidentally click on the palette title it closes that palette. No problem, just click to open again - the problem is it then closes all my other palettes leaving me just one open. I can’t work out how to open all of them again.

I remembered something about pressing shift to open all - that doesn’t work. The auto collapse or ‘one open’ preferences aren’t checked either.

Any help?

thanks

preferences.interface.palette.open one sub palette
preferences.interface.palette.auto collapse

turn those both off.

If you say they are both off I call shenanigans.
Pics/vids or it didn’t happen.

Did you save your config after changes were made with Shift+Ctrl+i?

depress “right tray” in palettes

Config has always been saved with those options unselected Doug.

That’s got it beta. Thanks  - those buttons really make sense don’t they

There is a reasonable explanation if you hold ‘Ctrl’ while hovering your cursor over the ‘Right Tray’ and ‘Left Tray’ buttons.

After a while you’ll have your UI to your liking. There’s a bunch readily available in the upper right. Screenshot of mine after over a year with the software here. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?172590-Updated-UI

wow that’s pretty far out doug - if the purple thang is yours (!!) I stick to grey default =|
I’ve been using zbrush for a while now - I just never got round to getting to the bottom of the palette collapsing, I just lived with it. One thing I have noticed, is that saving the config often means you end up with options you’ve not specified - i.e. whilst trying to sort this earlier I ‘re-stored’ the config , only to find it’d added the sub-palette auto close…then the lightbox was back on ‘open at startup’ (pixo seem really keen to keep this one) - in the end I just leave it as is and live with things.

yeah the context help menus are good zber I agree - but I still think some buttons are a bit whacky - like the enormous square ‘PRO’ button in the document palette! Or the massive ‘claypolish’ with it’s tiny accompanying sliders  I still love it though; like a slightly eccentric friend - a far cry from Maya, which is just snooty and awkward to a point =\

Yeah, that’s what it looks like. There’s a zip in that thread with some customizations you may like, or maybe of no use to you. It must have some merit as it’s 3 out of 5 stars…
