Just built I think I nice base mesh, heres what I got after an hour or so of sculpting, no idea where this is going. Any advice, let me know.

You may want to show the very base mesh your refering to at its lowest level with wires showing. The sculpt you have done can be done on most base meshes.
A realy good base mesh will have all loops in place like the eyes, mouth, ears, and the muzzel loop that goes from the crease of the nose around the mouth.
Of course you can work on much simpler meshes, and get good results still.
