Can you help .After I load a mesh from maya into Zbrush 3.5 r3 I do some sculpting at a higher sub level when I go back to level 1 the base mesh has been smoothed slightly its no longer the same as the original loaded file .I really wanted to export a level 1 mesh thats had some tweaks on it to take back to maya.Is there anyway round this?
Hi cbiley,
That’s just the nature of the subdivided object in ZBrush, because it is some kind of a interpolation has been calculated for making the mesh more smooth and resulting your Lv1 mesh become deformed according to the change in the higher level (even when you not doing anything, just divide a couple of time, your base mesh still gonna change anyway)
So what you can do is by storing morph target at Lv1 so after you make some changes and want to bake the normal/ disp map, you can go to the 1st level and switch target to the original one before you import it back into Maya.
Well, the other thing that your base mesh didn’t change is by turning off the “Smt” button just beside the Divide button, but this just going to adding resolution into your object and keeping the hard edges. Hope this help.
Cheers
