
So right of the bat want to note that this render would not be possible without the amazing model and shaders shared by Julian_K which was the starting point for this model.
To start i used the aforementioned model and deleted the top few levels of detail so as not to be copying his model completely. I went down to the lowest subdiv levels and resculpted to add more of Banes signature musculature, and to refflect facial details and tom hardy’s physique as seen in the new dark knight trailer. on a clone version i drew out the lines for a basic mask and used zsphere topography to produce a rough layout. zspheres produces the tubes. patience produced the details. I used texture mapping to get the tubes to have a nice uniform detail… end product was rendered using a set of lights again from julian , and at the start some render settings he suggested… and then on top of that all of the various shadow and specular material render suggestions ive learned thanks to zbc and made something like 20 different passes that got brought into photoshop and mixed using general use settings that i’ve been trying to perfect for months that i think i’ve gotten to a good point. i’ll put together a collage with the details and various settings and examples some point tomorrow… just want to sleep now after working on this for hours.
also just to note i know its not spot on to the new movie version but it wasnt very practical when i was making it to squeeze the extra row of tubes in and i like the look of mesh on the tubes better then the ribbing of the movie design… this is just my interpretation and attempt at improving my ability to produce a great render…hopefully im getting there.
