Awaiting

In the chapter “Awaiting” I refer to the old saying: ‘That train has left the station’ - where the train becomes a symbol of a chance irretrievably missed. An opportunity, a hope, a turning point - all that passed by without waiting for us.Yet I wanted to imagine what it might look like - to await that departed train.
A stillness without rush, a journey you no longer long to take.
A train for which the ticket no longer matters.
A world where, as you wait, missiles grow from the ground racing with the flowers,
and your most treasured things suddenly fit into your hands.⠀
⠀We all live in a state of awaiting - in one way or another - and the flashes of the rushing locomotive of time cast light upon our derailed tracks.

And as usual, I’ve made a short ZBrush TimeLapse video of the modeling process, where I tried to compress hours of creation into just four minutes
Hope you enjoy it, thank you kindly for your support and appreciation:herb:

This is amazing! The story is deeply relatable, we’ve all felt that sense of a missed train only once its already passed.

Beyond the concept I’m intrigued by your execution. In your breakdown video, it looked like the top of the dress started from a ZSphere, with folds carved out using Clay Buildup or similar brushes. How did you thin the mesh down once the folds were set? Did you mask and extract with low thickness, or was there another method to refine that original ZSphere mass?

I also noticed your approach to the lower dress using what looked like curve brush to establish the fold pattern, then scaling it to create that triangular shape and duplicating it in a circle. If you wanted the dress to flow more freely and dynamically, rather than the flatter, structured state it’s in now, would you have approach those wavy folds differently?
