average guy - a bust

Very nice… Minor problem on the eybrow positions, certainly due to your texture and the details you retrived from it, but its cool.

a really good job. I like the texture so much, did you learn any thing from Ryan’s ‘Modeling with a Texture’ tutorial? and what is the render? If you are going spent more time on this guy, please make the ears similar detail to the others.

Very good job !! Skin is awesome :grimacing: !!!

I’d like to praise the VERY artistic composition as well! Gives it a haunting quality.

thanks everyone for the comments and crits. i agree with the majority of the crits that have been given. the neck is slightly too long…originally i created this model to be a roman bust i pulled the neck down slightly to give way to a cloth wrap that would have been around his neck. unfortunately when i picked up the model again (and decided to do what eventually did to him) all i did was changes to his face and texture…i never pulled the neck back up when i went back to make his revisions =) a lot of the surface details were pulled from the texture mainly using it as a bump. its faster for me to paint and less taxing on my system. i could have gone back in and sculpted more details in but i only did what i had to for the render i was trying to achieve (i only gave myself a few days last week to create this after work). the ear i agree with 100% i should have spent a little more time on it. it bugs me more and more everytime i look at the image. this image is a zbrush render! the software amazes daily! he might get animated so im going to pull everything over into another package sometime soon (and rework those minor things that bug me about him) and get his shaders and lighting looking very similar to what you see.

chrisgrim: ahhaha i did work with T Miller over at Pendulum! harshdezine: i only took him up to a level 5....ill post up his poly count on my next post.

Sebcesoir: i wanted the eybrows kind of bushy but there positioning is a llittle off your right! the one above his right (the pics left) is offset quite a bit now that you mention it.

cheers everyone!
Ricardo

i dont think the neck is too long at all. In fact I applaud you for not sticking to the boring matematical human proportion mantra. As its not how real life works. Someone commented that it has soul, and thats the reason why, he feels more possible because he is not perfectly proportioned which is exactly the pitfall you must strive to avoid in CG.

Respect

Very fine work … looks a bit like Bill Bradley to me. Four stars! :+1:

harshdezine: heres the poly count: 702,976 he was at a level 5. sorry i didnt post it last time i didnt have the model with me. (btw youve got some great work)

humanchimp: thanks man!

chalkman: he does kind of look like the senator! thats hilarious!

cheers,
Ricardo

Great modeling! He looks abit like David Gilmore the guitarist and vocalist
of Pink Floyd.

woaw it looks verry real, i like the little deatils you did it, because make him look real but not with a lot of things

Is that just your long neck or are you happy to see me. That’s quite a long neck.

Where I come from that’s a short neck!

Great character - you can almost smell the sweat off him.

Curious why you sliced the top of his head off?

That is amazing Ricardo! My goal is to get to your level! You said that you used mostly ZBrush… what else did you use?

Having just signed up here I simply had to come and say, this stunned me. I have seen many many many computer modelled heads, this simply amazed me, and stands out from the crowd so well because it simply looks real. There are a couple of crits that I could give but they’ve already been said and so I’d liek to make this post 100% praise, you deserve it.

That is photo-realism unlike any I have seen before, and that’s certainly saying something. Well done, give yourself a pat on the back or a beer or something.

Cool model. Anyone seen My Name Is Earl? He’s the image of Earl’s brother!:+1:

How long have you been working with ZBRush?

Hey Ricardo.
I like it man, the neck and eyebrows don’t bother me.
I think it makes it special.
Good Job, I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Cheers

Aka, The Voodoo Monkey

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you create the guy’s hair/eyebrows?

Hiii,
Pls post one tutorial on this character. If you could do one would be realy great for the people who are really looking to learn the techniques of zbrush modeling

Thanks in advance

Awesome work. I was just watching the first season of “Lost” TV show on DVD, and this model is a spitting image of the mystery man who kidnapped the pregnant girl!
