Nice model, really nice details. Would be cool to see a final version.

About people dissing avatar… Well, it has saturated the scene pretty heavily by now, so people are bound to be a little bit tired of it, dont take it personally!

More to the point, on one of the renders with pupils, might be that you should look at where the indentation begins. Looks a bit like it goes in before the iris begins, which looks a bit un-natural.

Otherwise, pretty damn close to the original!

edit: Yeah, I have been a lurker mostly too, kudos for stepping out there! It´s the only way to learn!

I agree. The tail would not start so high up. (Do a search for coccyx)
Also the bridge of her nose comes out too far and looks a bit too wide. The lips look great though!

pitchepuck: That’s not making much sense, if you dislike the design in the film then you cannot possibly like this since my work is based in smallest detail on the designs for the film. It’s illogical. Yes i started this as something to simply practice on and also because i did like the design of the characters and creatures in the movie, that’s however irrelevant. I saw it as a good and relatively simple character for me to get started with to learn Zbrush, anatomy, character modeling, detailing, workflow between Zbrush and Modo and back again, and much more…

ailu: Hej! i guess you’re a fellow swede. Thanks, i’m sure you will see the final version on other forums when i’m finished with it.
I can understand people are tired of Avatar and the giant blue Smurfs, however they should probably be equally tired of all the Hulk models, all the giant muscular men with enourmous shoulderpads and huge weapons which are daily posted here on the Zbrush forum. I’m not taking it personally, it’s just that i can spend my time wiser than to have to defend the work i create and post here, it feels a bit odd having to do that each time.

About the pupils and eye, i will take a look at that and adjust it before it’s finalized. I got lots of small wip’s runníng at the same time within this one big wip project, the eyes is just a small part of it all. :slight_smile:

You shouldn’t be lurking, you should be creating and posting your work here. I’m sure you’re a talented artist.

plllz keep posting!! im loving her so far and want to see the finished product… im not yet sick of avatar but if ppl dislike the design or think its boring or over used then its as simple as not looking at the post!!! …

zBuddha: Thanks, i’m sure you can still see my wip on many other 3d related forums, one of those is the Luxology Modo forum where my work will continue.

jaggudada: I’m doing all my rendering with Modo and it’s own internal renderengine which is very nice and fast.

coming along - here are my only critiques on the form so far -

  • the wrist, hands and ankles seem to have a bit to little mass - I know she is very slinder, but they seem undersized even for a slender creature - I am talking subtle change - nothing dramatic

EDIT - disregard ankles - I can’t see image while I am typing and was trying to remember - getting old and being blonde - double whammy, heh
