automatically rotate and size brushes

Is there a way of getting Zbrush to rotate and scale the brush you’re using in projection master. Similar to the control you have in photoshop.

Basically I have a few textures that I want to paint on the model and have them rotate and scale to give a randomness to it all. But as far as I know you can only set spacing and flow?

The “spray” stroke type has randomization controls for setting scale and placement variance. The “directional” and “roller” brush types allow you to roll the rotation of the alpha as you work, and can be combined with the sprayer. The brush alpha can be rotated in the alpha menu for a different dab shape. The “Drag Rectangle” stroke type lets you interactively rotate and scale a single application of an alpha/texture.

Is that at all helpful, or have I misunderstood?

Sprays ok but to be honest It’s a bit too random.

I’m not sure about the other stuff I assume they can work with textures as well as alphas. I basically want a brush that can work by by laying down my chosen texture with various random rotation and scale. A bit like the manual options in the stencil tab…but of course automatically as you brush. Actually what would also be great is to be able to use the recdrag stoke tool (think that’s what it’s called, I haven’t got Zbrush here at work) and be able to rotate that.

SDorry I’ve re-read your post and realised what you mean by the roller and directional. If I remember correctly they rotate depending on the direction of your stroke. This isn’t what I mean. I need a brush that will rotate completely randomly not dependant on direction.

The spray brush doesn’t do rotation.

You can combine the directional/roller brushes with the sprayer strokes and decrease the level of randomization. The dragrec stroke will let you precisely and deliberately apply a texture at various sizes and angles, but only one dab at a time. All the 2.5 D brushes work with textures.

[Edit] Posting too fast for each other. There is no “random” roational aspect to any of the strokes that I’m aware of. Combining the directional/roller brushes and the sprayers will achieve pretty much the same thing with short overlapping strokes approached from different angles.

Oh, and of course, with Zapp3, if theres a tool you just can’t live without in photoshop, simply go there with Zapp while youre in PM. With zAPP, all you favorite tools are now Zbrush tools.

I’m using zapp3 but the thing is I want to go in and fill areas that it’s missed or have just come out a bit wrong.

I didn’t know you could change the angle of the dragrec stroke, how do you you do that?

Actually regarding zapplink 3, have you noticed any problems with it when using multiple angles. It seems fine if I’m using it with the regular doc size but if I increase the size to something like 1000 by 1200 I find that it can export the images way off to the side.

It depends on the brush type it’s combined with. If the brush type has a rotational aspect, like the directional or roller brush, you can drag rotation as well as scale.

Hmmm, interesting, I’ll have a go tonight, and blame you if it doesn’t work

Just kidding, I really aprreciate your swift replies.
