Is there anything like this? Not a very accurate one but something like the Decimation Plug-in but with quads instead? I dont need it to be super accurate, just for it to reduce the poly size so I can play around with the model easier and look for different faces or body types by just using the move brush. I would have my uses for it.
every 3d application has some sort of LOD or optimizing feature.
max = optimize or LOD
XSI = polygon reduction
etc.
Not any that really keep it in quads. If your model is all quads allready zbrush is pretty good at reconstructing lower divisions, though.
If you got the UV laid out,
ZBrush got the Construct lower division feature.
It will find the group of 4 quads and delete the edges in the middle to create a single 1.
But you can`t do number of poly control with this method.
i’ve tried the recent trial version of 3d coat and you can get a basic quad mesh out of it.
take your zbrush mesh, import as voxel.
take note that the larger you scale up your object the more voxels(detail) it will draw.
then quadrangle the voxel for retoplogy.
i don’t know yet if this function can be made symmetrical, i’ve only given it a quick run.
much rather see auto quad topology in zbrush though.
in XSI you can force quads, and symmetry. It is sloppy though…unless you paint a weight map that tells the process to hold more information in certain areas.
Thank you very much for the replies. I’m gonna try and download a trial for one of these softwares and see what kind of results I get.
Thanks again.
