Attaching imported hands to original mesh

Hello

I am having a probleme with my model, i wish to replace the five finger hands with a six finger one, i made the model of a six finger hand in blender, i imported it into zbrush, but i absolutely have no idea how to connect this without breaking the original mesh with all it’s subdivisions and details.

here is a pic

anyone knows how to do this cleanly?

thanks a lot

What you’ll need to do is attach the hand to your level 1 mesh in your other app. Then you can bring the character into ZBrush and append him to the original as a SubTool. Next, subdivide the model to have the same number of levels as the source, then use Tool>SubTool>Project All to copy the details from the source to the new version. You’ll probably want to hide or mask the hands before doing this, so that they don’t get affected by the projection.

Thanks a lot

My lowest mesh is 50 000 polygons, can i make a very low poly mesh in blender, and set it as lvl 1 subdivision?

Nope…well, kind of.

Look at the Wiki and guides on Projecting detail from one mesh to another.

ok so i tried to make a low poly model and project details of the original mesh on it (after subdividing), but it’s really broken on the head

So i was wondering, can i retopolise in zbrush, export the low res retopolised mesh, add the hand in blender and then import in zbrush, to finally project the details on it?

You should be able to do that.
