Artifacts problem with my GUVs and texture!!!

Okay,After scouring the forum on tuts and reading up on each part of the zb process to perfect my model…somewhere I must have missed something or went wrong.

With my model in the texturing process I have unremovable artifacts that are hindering my progress!!!

My steps were :
After I modeled I saved my tool as a polymesh, then created a blank texture around it at 4096x4096. Then I tried some things, After pushing GUVs, I made a new texture around the model at the same resolution, then I checked my texture with the UV check and I saw the tiles appearing slightly broken up in the texture like a jigsaw puzzle, so I pushed fix seams. It cleared up the pattern.
So I began to texture using projection master only for the moment with color and fade only on…And the damned artifacts continue to MOCK me!!! lol…what ever must I do to fix this pixelated nastiness before continuation!?:qu:

Three things:

  1. Apply a blank texture to the model of the size that you’re going to texture with and THEN press AUVTiles or GUVTiles. That way, the mapping will be calculated for the exact size that you’re going to use, giving better results.

  2. Try to always work at a ratio of 1-to-1 between pixols and pixels. Check out my Precision Texturing, Part 2 tutorial (found in the tutorials forum).

  3. Some meshes are a pain this way, no matter what you do. It’s not something to worry about, though. Ignore the artifacts, and when you’re done painting do a Fix Seams at that time.

thanx for ur response aurick, however, I did the exact things you said, and the artifacts still show in the same spots, if i push fix seam it momentarily smooths it a little, but if i rotate the tool, the artifacts become full blown again,i even tried to adjust the fix seam ratio hoping this would pull the seams together more and that may have been the answer but…no avail…Guess its too late to do anything to fix it in this stage I suppose?:frowning: :qu:

harmless bump?..:stuck_out_tongue:

A couple more things:

First, when you rotate a model it will temporarily unsmooth. When you release the mouse, it will smooth again. This always happens with high resolution models, and also if you have DSmooth active.

Second, have you tried turning Quick 3D Edit off and setting Tool>Display Properties>DSmooth to 1? This smooths the model when it’s not being interacted with, making it more closely match what was on the canvas when using Projection Master.
