can somebody please tell me how to get rid of this? these “artifacts” or blotches of a secondary material? whenever i load this tool, i get the pink material that i cannot change because of this inconsistency.

Hmm…I get that from time to time. I just fill the object with a new material, then the flat color material. Then I can change materials again. I also clone the tool and save that one out. That gets rid of the “coming” back part.
At least for me anyway.
