Hi guys here is my Portrait of Arnold as the T-800
There are also some turntables and behind the scenes bits and bobs over on Artstation https://www.artstation.com/artwork/gR9k2L Arnold as the T800This is the 1st of a 3 part series the next two parts will both include the head. He’ll be back! Soon. I will be posting Arnolds body soon but I felt his head deserved it’s own post
I’d really like to thank Şefki Ibrahim for his valuable feedback on this project and for the excellent course that he has produced. I am sure I will continued to refer to and learn from this resource in the future and I feel sure I can still learn more and push my skills even further by revisiting it again. It’s an honour to be part of it and a joy seeing so many inspiring artworks evolve within the community
I created this character from scratch. It all started when I went off script halfway through sculpting one of my base meshes and created Arnold as an offshoot from that. I made the body and head sculpt from scratch and without the use of any scan data or other 3d assets. I did however then use Wrap to transfer across the base for the albedo and the displacement from a V-face scan from XYZ textures. The eyeball was taken from the V-face head as well and the untextured low poly caruncule basemesh came from Sefki’s course.
This project threw up a lot of challenges for me and this head in particular I think forced me to improve my skill in lining up reference images with my portraits. I changed my practice methods in order to more efficiently train and perfect this ability on some mini projects and this seems to have resulted in a breakthrough for me in portrait sculpting.
