Are you a Blender and ZRush user? Please read!!

Ok! I’ve been using both Blender and ZBrush for years now, and I love them both.

I am appealing to any Blender and ZBrush user here to speak up.

I’ve just been told by Pixologic that I can’t have the GoZ SDK.

No reason given, just a polite email saying “not at this time”

So here is my request:

To any Blender users and ZBrush users reading this can everyone here please spread the word to Pixologic and other Blender users that you see great benefits to having GoZ to Blender. This really is a great opportunity!

If you are a studio that use both Blender and ZBrush, that would hold a lot of weight!

I for one as a ZBrush and Blender user REALLY want to see GoZ implemented, do you? then please, speak up.

But please more than anything BE NICE TO THEM ABOUT IT! Don’t be rude or demanding, they will just close up otherwise.

Thank you for your help!

Mark

Not an avid user of Blender but have it and would be more inclined to use it if it had GoZ available.

They haven’t released GoZ for Softimage or Lightwave either and I am guessing that they will come before Blender.

Just a guess.

Yep a Softimage coder has the SDK now, I’ve been talking to the guy (Jester) who is working on it.

If you would be more inclinded to use it, then please let Pixologic know as I don’t think they really scout these forums, this place is more of a mind meld of the artists who use it.

They do check the forums. And I don’t see releasing the sdk to the blender community happening anytime soon. They need to fix layers yet. Both 3d and paint. Maybe 64 bit…eh. my 2 cents

Sorry that was silly of me to say, of course they must scout the forums. But their closed PR policy means we never know.

I’m not saying they don’t have a lot on already, but the point of an SDK is to let external developers expand your product base. However, I don’t know if they trust the open source community with the SDK. They don’t talk to us so we don’t know.

What I am getting at, is encouraging them to contact someone like Ton Roosendaal, the man in charge of Blender, to see if something can be worked out?

I beleive they contacted him before when the SDK was in Phase 1, but an accord could not be met. Now Phase 2 is out, hopefully something can be worked out.

My best take on this is that Blender(I have experimented with) is Open source and no GoZ compatibility will be exercised., If that is the Question.

Is that a guess or official?

I’ll have to call it a personal observation to the best of My capability.Best
