Bowstring side elbow should be higher and farther back if you are going for realism. When you are shooting bow the scapula rotates and is under load, when the load is released the elbow falls back on a diagonal plane. If this was was an aimed shot of a bow with any significant draw weight the elbow needs to be higher to compensate for load. This is why a lot of “artistic” bow shooting poses look cheesy, they look like the subject is shooting a 5lb draw weight bow - sort of like drawing a subject shooting a pistol using their pinky to pull the trigger and thumb to hold the butt.
clever_guy: Great information. I will make it a point to research this. Thank you.
Here is an update. I reworked the left shoulder and modified the head and expression. Also, bulked him up a bit. Made it a point to rework the hands.

Starting the accessories for the archer. This is a leather Hip Quiver. Modeled in Maya.
I’m not an expert on the paraphernalia of archery, but it looks good to me. And i like the new expression.
Here is a site with some reference images for archery. This is more target oriented archery but you can see the general commonalities in the archers form from a number of different body types.
Working on details and pose.

He’s looks good ,but i don’t know but it might just be me, that he seems way to muscular,is he a “heroic” scaled character,or realistic? ,just to me he seems too muscular to be an archer.
Historically the Welsh Yew “Longbow” had a draw weight of 140 pounds or more. The men that drew those bows were trained from youth, and were enormous.
