applying noise to mesh causes mesh to explode

Many times when I click ‘apply to mesh’ under the surface rollout, it crumples up my mesh, regardless of density. Sometimes it absolutely destroys the mesh.

Any ideas where I’m going wrong?

How dense is your mesh? If its not dense enough for the high detail noise maker provides it’ll screw your mesh up. Can you post a picture showing the polycount and what happens when you hit apply?

EDIT: Oops I see you said “regardless of density”. Can you still post a picture though?

give that a try.

You are probably setting the Noise strength too high but, as chrono1081 says, some pictures would help.
