Applying Material to one Subtool?

I’m looking to start on a new project, however before I start I need to be clear on one thing:

I need to apply two or maybe three different materials to one subtool. Is this only possible by polypainting different materials after filling the Object with the prominent material.

I would appreciate some feedback, because if the above is going to cause an issue then I will have no choice but to apply materials to separate subtools. It would help my workflow by keeping the quantity of subtools as low as possible.

Yes its is, just switch on “M” for Material and paint away.

It would actually help to use polygroups on the parts that are supposed to have another material.

If you are using R3 you can actually paint your polygroups by using polypaint.

Hope that helps

Thanks dsoellbuster

I’m actually using 3.2 OSX, waiting excitedly for 3.5.

I had a feeling this was the answer, just needed some confirmation/support before I got started.

Thanks again for your feedback. Much appreciated.

Welcome and good luck with that project. And don’t be to frustrated, at least you got GoZ
