Applying craters to mesh

Hello,

New to Zbrush, still figuring some things out.

I have a moon sculp - I would like to add some craters to the surface. What is the best way to do so?

What I have tried so far: Using alphas of the craters - grayscale height maps - but the thing about that is what is the best brush? Seems with the brushes I have to move them slightly to get any action on the surface - this causes some distortion. I tried the dragrect stroke but it didn’t go as deep as I wanted.

I had better luck with Mudbox and their displacment stamp - so is there an equivalent to the displacement stamp in ZBrush?

Any other suggestions on applying the craters would be appreciated as well!

Thanks!

Okay - did some more reading and experimenting and I think that dragrect is the best bet. I was able to get more depth with the intensity setting - so it’s all good!

Thanks anyway!
