Applying chisel brush on curve

hi everyone, i want to know how to apply chisel brush on curve

with freehand stroke selected and lazy mouse activated, i stored morph target on cube and drew self crossing shape and resulting outcome looks like its machined by router. then by poly grouping desired shape and going to stoke and selecting frame mesh (borders selected) i get the curve.

but i cant get what i want as you see above. i want brush cut along rectangle for example. any suggestion?
thanks.

Hello @Safdar_Safdari

First, be sure to upgrade to the most up to date version of Zbrush (currently 2020.1.3). You are missing some important fixes, and you should always be using the most up to date program version before seeking help or support.

The approach you’ve chosen for this is sort of twitchy. You’ll need to do a number of things just right in order for it to work the way you want. You’ll want to do the following:

  1. Always create polygroups at the lowest level of subdivision possible, but you’ll want to create the curve (Stroke > Curve Functions> Frame Mesh) at the highest subdivision, in order to give it enough points for the resulting stroke to be smooth with no visible stepping. Make sure the mesh has a high enough level of subdivision to capture the brush detail cleanly.
  1. Make sure curve mode is enabled for the Chisel Brush.

  2. Make sure that both the Intensity and Size modifiers under Stroke> Curve Modifiers are disabled.

With the Chisel Curve brush at the desired settings (size, intensity, etc), make contact with the curve (pen down), and then immediately hold down Shift–AFTER contacting the curve, not before.

This should immediately add the stroke in an even application, constrained to the curve.

thanks, it worked, can I use chisel brush with sculptris pro enabled to get better result?

Sculptris Pro mode is not compatible with all brushes. I don’t believe it works with the Chisel brush.

thanks again.
