applying a texture?

I’m a beginning user…Could someone answer me the simple question of how do you apply a texture in Zbrush?

I draw a 3dplane or import a mode and switch the Material which changes. But when I switch the texture nothing changes. Could someone please explain this to me in maya language? What do I do to simply apply a texture to a shader and then assign that shader to the model?

Or maybe a tutorial that deals with this…

Hi. I think you need to fill your model with color before textures will show. ~S.~

Did you choose the texture on the “left” side (= the brush side)? You should select the texture on the tools palette “Texture Map” (right side of the screen). Additionally, your Plane3D needs to be converted to a polymesh 3D before you can apply the texture.

Hmmm Anybody tell me why the texture thingy only works on the tools texture sub pallette?
Just seems very strange that the texture does not work where it used to?

Maybe I have a corrupt install here at work??

Should I ask the admin to re isntall or what?
