Apply displacement to correctly tile[Answered]

Im making a tiling texture and im having trouble keeping it tiled while correcting it. What im doing is dropping the square tiling texture to a 1024x1024 document then scrolling it using the tilde key. I then grab the document which creates an alpha of it. I create a new square document, place a fresh plane in it and frame it. I then apply the alpha as a displacement map. This allows me to edit areas that were on the edges of the document which were harder to edit. The problem is, when I apply the displacement, it doesnt perfectly tile. When I scroll the newly displaced plane using the tilde key, theres lines left over at the borders because it didnt grab the edges of the document in a tiling fashion. Is there a way to fix this? Ive tried using Best render and the seamless texture plugin but they dont seem to work.

why not just use 3D wrapping and sculpt what you want?

do you mean wrap mode? Im using that but its hard to know if im sculpting it right on the edges so I have to scroll it so those edges are in the middle. Is there a way to sculpt on the document after scrolling?

This problem is discussed in this thread:

ah, thank you very much. I guess I didn’t search well enough to see if this was already discussed.
