Append sculpt to image plane problem

I have been trying to append a half made sculpt of a head to an imageplane in zbrush, but every time i do this it offsets my image plane to a far corner and my sculpt is not visible, when I try to zoom into the image plane or pan around its as if it is orbiting around something off the screen. If i append just a zsphere it works fine, but append my sculpt and it wont have it.

I am guessing it has something to do with my heads scale or uv cordinates if there is such a thing in zbrush, I really don’t know, can anyone help a desperatly frustrated noob:(

I have attached an image of whIMAGEPLANE.jpg at happens when I append my sculpt.

Without knowing your steps it’s hard to say for sure. At first guess, I’d say that it’s your model’s local coordinates. Was the model imported from another app? If so, the center point on the model might be skewed.

Or while working, have you set a pivot point?

I imported a low ploy head from Maya, the head is part of a whole body model I made so it is not in the centre of the 3d space, also the piviot point on just the head is off centre, because I am about half way through the sculpt i really don’t want to take it back into Maya centre my pivot point and import it back into zbrush. Is that going to be the only way I can fix my problem or can I centre the pivot in zbrush?

Try pressing the S.Pivot button on the right shelf. This will temporarily change the pivot point to be the center of the visible polygons. You can later clear that point by using C.Pivot.

No it still ain’t having it my model was already set to C.pivot, I can append any other object to my model cubes, spheres whatever and it centres on my object it is just the image planex. I tried appending the image planex to any other object and it works fine. I am just going to append 2 seperate planes. I do like to know why things don’t work but this is a mystery. Thanks for all your ideas.

Cheers mate

Ok, if it’s only the image plane tool, then something about that tool must have been changed. Select it in the Tool palette and look at it in the Tool>Preview window. What do you see? Is it centered, or is it located oddly?

This is a screen grab of me tool and subtool palette, is it ment to be at an angle like that?tool.jpg

I don’t know if this helps as well but it also distorts my model. roger.jpg

The model distortion looks like Perspective is turned on the Draw palette for one instance of the model, and not for the other. Simply toggle the Draw>Persp setting.

And you still haven’t answered my previous question. When the ImagePlaneX tool is selected (without any subtools appended to it), what do you see in the Tool>Preview window?
