app link and projection problem

i hav seen others post similar problem when working wif app link and projection master before. but i still wanna post this again coz i havnt ultimately found the permanent solution to this

[01.jpg]

thats the problem source. every time that message shows up, i know the projection would not go through to the Z model. up until now, i hav experiment a number of times regarding this matter from time to time and tried many known possible solution that i can think of. but what annoys me is that none of methods would provide the ultimate fix to this issue, i mean some time it works , some times it doesnt

so please, can anyone help me over this

What exactly are you doing in Photoshop? Are you remembering to only edit the working layer, and also to merge any new layers into that one before saving and switching back to ZBrush?

yep, everything done according to the rules … only the middle layer were edited or merged… and save only in accrodance to the initial layer stack style (or without the middle layer’s layer mask)

its really annoying that this happens from time to time and so unpredictable … i hav tried many ways be4 , none really solved this for good

i also hav a little hint from experiments that when ever i try a full image that go over the boundary of my z model on top of the middle layer, this problem would appear… but when i resize that on top image within the z model. this problem would not appear as always (sometimes it would still happen)

Hey there,

as far as i can see, all you need to do is changing the layers name back to “Layer 1”. When merging the layers PS always changes the name.

ZBrush should pick this up without any problem when you use the original Layer name.

Hope that helps.

genius mate … out of all those frustrations from time to time… i hav never thought of the layer name was the problem, i mean zbrush would accept any layer name most of time in my case … ur tips were of great help 2 me … thanks a lot

actually , just curious … has anyone been told specifically about this layer 1 name thing is a must be4 returning to zbrush???

Hey turbojoys,

a loooooong time ago when i started out using ZApplink i can remember that i read about keeping the layer names intact. I am sure it was a piece of info provided by Pixologic, just don’t ask me where it was i really can’t remember … getting old here

Anyway … glad i could help.
