Apocalypse Now - Marlon Brando portrait

Hi all, I’m happy to show my last work!
This project started as a “one week likeness sculpt challenge” on www.cgfeedback.com. Since I wasn’t happy at all with what I achieved at the end of the challenge I decided to spend some more time to improve the sculpt and bring it to a final stage.

Software used: ZBrush, 3ds max and VRay, Photoshop

Thanks for watching, comments and crits are more than welcome!

Wow that looks awesome, what did you render in?!

Brando!!! Very cool!!!

on the right track it kinda looks like him but not quite get some more references and it will look amazing

@ArkadiusArt: Thanks! It’s rendered in 3ds max and Vray, with FastSSS2 shader for the skin. I’ve used one single spot and a very subtle help with IBL.

@remcv8: Thanks!

@uzazil: Thanks for pointing this out. Can you be a little more specific? Like “the nose is wrong” or “the face is too thin”?

Very nice detail…I’m impressed.

Hey, I made a quick test with one with the references you gave me, and i’d say that my model is pretty similar, I can’t really find big differences. What do you think?

the brow is to bulbus the jowls/jaw is too square it needs to be more round and fat the bridge of the nose is to thin almost there tho the eyes are all a little off the look tired your close tho try puting the actual pic over the model and write down the differences

The horror…

I got your point. Adding the reference directly in the scene and placing it over the face made me notice a lot of details that are off. I wish i did it before… Now i’m already working on something else, and I don’t think it’s worth to push this further. But thanks for your feedback, you gave me a very valuable lesson for the future! :+1:
