AO Crashing in R3, Reasons?

Looking for a reason why my single-tool character model is crashing when I use AO masking. My memory compacting looks good and I have not deleted or added anything to the topology of this model.

I do have Triangles in the mesh, is that the problem? The crash happens on all sub-D levels so it is something other than performance issues I think. I am able to create a cavity mask no problems with 10-million polys and 3GB of ram.

so I’m the only one with this problem or nobody uses this feature.
