Anyone Using Virtualdub 1.9.5

I have been searching for tuts - ebooks etc on using Virtualdub 1.9.5 using google but have not found very much info (most seems to be repeating another post etc). Anyone have some good links on using the program - esp the filters like cartoonizer and old film effect.
I have googled videos and finding some nice effects like here

If you have PS then save the movie as image sequence and go nuts with the PS filters or use After Effects.

I have been thinking about doing that but not sure if I should save the images as png or bitmap?
