I understand and have worked the “spinit” movie option, described to me by Scott Spencer, but when I exported the movie files, each .psd image, while physically quite large, was degraded quality-wise? When one does an individual best quality render of a piece, it looks fantastic, but when one exports it as consecutive image files, you get lots of individual, simplified bad images. Anyone know how to ensure high-quality movie renders?

Zbrush is a paint program. With added 3d and 2.5d tools. You are asking Zbrush to do something it was not designed to do. For animations, even simple turntable, use an animation program. You don’t have to spend a lot. You can pick up a copy of Vue 4 or Bryce 5 for around $70.US. Even these simple programs have timeline features and movie export options. Or search the web for a free copy of Blender.
the next cost level would be an entry level 3D program like Strata or Carrera, these run $99 to $300. and are dedicated to this kind of thing.
I use a high-end program, Cinema 4D, from Maxon which has a base module with everthing you need, that can be purchased separately for under $600. Alias Maya, SoftImage XSI, also offer base versions in the $500-$600 range.
Zbrush is designed to export the model and all the maps needed for these programs. But you will have to set up the lights and camera from scratch.
I’ve actually figured out the issue, and you’re partially correct. I was fully aware that this is the case for the most part with zBrush, but there are indeed a few methods of creating movies, and I actually got it to work. I figured out how to render at extremely high quality, as well, which made me feel good. When I last exported my images out from the “Movie” export option in Zbrush, they were simplified and aliased or something like that. I upped the memory allowance per frame to 4000 kb, and that seemed to have made the difference. The max I was able to have my computer manage was 180 frames of 1024x768 of a camera spin-around. Any more frames/resolution and my computer would bite it. Here’s the thread on how to do it:

But thanks for your suggestions anyways!
