Anyone having problems with mesh extracts?

I’m having real problems with mesh extracts created by masking an object. When I create the subtool using the extract button, the only bits of the new mesh that seem to be affected by any other brushes are the edges. Anyone else come across this ?
I’ve opened a ticket with support but I was wondering if this is a known problem and if there’s a workaround. I use extracts quite a bit and this is going to cause me a real problem.

Frank

Interestingly, it appears the subtool is created with a mask which is not visible. That would be why I’m having problems I think !

Same problem here, To fix I have removed all masks and still cant sculpt on the Extracted part, only the edges move.

SAME here

I got to sculpt, I Removed the mask then I selected MRGB then RGB then back to M. and I got to sculpt on the the part I extracted. I would say there is a Glitch.

Well guys, just tried to reproduce that. But not a single problem here.

But a have developed a habit of doing always a ctrl+shift+a (clear mask) before i start to model or change subtools, because you never know …

In the end you use the control key quite a lot, so you might have masked something without realizing it. Especially when your model is polypainted.

Hope that helps

I had a notification back when I raised a ticket that they could reproduce it but the guy didn’t know if it was a bug or a deliberate decision.
I can always get round it if I clear the mask from the subtool first so it’s not a biggie for me

I think I saw this once but my hand just might have inadvertently clicked or something because I was moving fast when it happened. Haven’t seen it since.

One thing I did notice is that when you extract polys it ditches the UVs. You guys know of any way to keep the UVs intact when doing an extract or how to accurately project them back onto the extracted model?
