any word on this aurick>? move sketch spheres? and scale feature?

i was wondering if there’s a way to move sketch spheres like you can move a mesh with transpose because i noticed that there is now a transpose brush which is getting me to wonder if there’s a way to use it for sketch spheres to reposition groups of sketch spheres because moving sketch sphere with the deformation pallet is not exactly ideal…

also is there a way to use the scale feature from zbrush 2 that has seemed to make its way into zsketching mode is there a way to use the same feature for mesh scaling or is there a brush that has the ability to do the same thing now in the zbrush 3.5 r3 release for scaling a mesh like you used to in zbrush 2 because i found that feature extremely useful to adjust proportions quickly when it was there?..

You can move Sketch spheres with the “Move” function, next to Draw on the top shelf. Adjust the falloff to move more or fewer.

You can also adjust them with the “push /Pull” sketch brush, to a different extent.

As far as scaling for normal sculpting:

Precise, localized scaling during normal sculpting, is usually accomplished with some combination of either the transpose tools or the deformation menu, and targeted masking.

In addition, you may want to explore the effects of the the Magnify, Inflat, and Pinch brushes, for brush style deformations.

yes you can do it this way but you cant move multiple zsketch chains at the same time with out the original cluster of sketch spheres…

yes you can use transpose but really it is different then the feature that was originally in zbrush 2 i was hopeing they would restore the scale brush in zbrush 3.5 or zbrush 4…

really these features were all about proportional speed changes to the workflow if transpose brush is now a brush im hopeing they make a scale brush since it was such a powerful feature that has been removed in after zbrush 2…

any word on this from the moderators… whether this will be integrated back in a future update?..

You can hide/mask sketch chains just like any other model, and you can move/scale multiple chains at a time, up to the entire model at once, by simply adjusting the falloff and cursor so that they fit within its influence. Or am I completely misunderstanding you?

I also wouldnt mind seeing the return of the 2.0 “scale” feature in brush form for standard meshes, though this functionality is redundant with trasnpose. Transpose gives you far more accurate control. The brushing would just provide an alternate way of working.

hey Spyndel

i understand what your saying just found out that these individual sketch spheres can be assigned a poly group now in zbrush 3.5 r3 which comes in handy when isolating selection groups for shape adjustment… fall off adjustment works kind of but is not as precise as transpose… but i think pixologics main idea was to use only the regular zsphere armature for uniform shape adjustment and rotation… which does a fairly good job but most times screws up on the rotation of the z axis and sketch spheres dont always move or bind to the armature like it should… so i hope this is improved on with future updates…

yeah the scale feature i do miss have missed since zbrush 3.1 was released really made shape change and proportion more fluid then what transpose does which works a little different… yeah i find it weird now they have a transpose brush now in the brush pallet which i am guessing just makes it that much easier to hot key and use in terms of workflow… which i hope a future update does the same thing with the zbrush 2 scale brush function i hope we can see this in zbrush 4 as a brush function since it had many uses…

Remember, sketch chains are subject to quick shift-click visibility functions like any other polygroup to quickly isolate or group them.

hey Spyndel

yes im glad that feature was integrated into zbrush 3.5 r3 which does come in handy for hiding groups of chains and assigning chains there own poly groups for isolation and also setting up poly groups early on before making a unified skin… i thought maybe the transpose brush would work with sketch spheres but no effect with sketch sphere only able to work on a poly mesh object… although im sure it would come in useful to add transpose brush use with sketch sphere mode… i hope zbrush 4 addresses some of these bumps in which is a very fluid workflow…

The ZSketch transpose workflow is different than PolyMesh3D.

In order to transpose ZSketch, you exit ZSketch mode and create armature ZSpheres which allow you to transpose the attached ZSketch.

You can move, rotate and scale armature ZSpheres and by doing so, transposing the ZSketch.

Since the armature ‘stay’ with your ZSketch then all you need is to create a simple armature base (bones) and whenever you want to transpose your sketch, exit sketch mode (remember to bind the ZSketch), move some of the armature ZSpheres and when satisfied, return to ZSketch mode to continue sketching.
