Using hotkey (or button) to change to higher res switches on dynamic subdivision for dynameshes. Really annoying when I work fast and while switching between levels I press that shortcut one time too many. Any way to disable that function?
Thanks

If I understand you correctly, that shouldn’t be happening. It doesn’t happen to me on Win 7.
The D and shift-D shortcuts should not toggle on Dynamic Subdivision if there are any classic subdivision levels present:

Do you have any custom hotkey assignments in this area that might be in conflict? What OS is this on? Does it happen consistently with any tool?
Ok slight correction. Polygon count does not matter and it does not happen on subdivided meshes. Did not notice it was dynamesh. So while the situation is slightly different it still is a problem. One wrong press of hotkey and couple milion dynamesh gets subdivided and worse, stays that way without me noticing when I often switch between subtools eating my cpu power. It also happens on non subdivided non dynamesh meshes but that maybe by design, don’t know. Yes, all of them.
Hotkeys are shift A for lower and shift D for upper. Win 8.1 64bit. It very well might be by design. I hope not.
I will edit first post for clarity.
Well, if that’s the case, then yes it seems to be operating as designed. By default, if the object has no classic subdivision levels, then pressing the button you would normally press to increase the resolution, will instead increase it virtually with Dynamic Subdivision. With the two button combo press you have assigned, I’m not sure how you could accidentally press the button so often unless you intended to raise the resolution on the object anyway.
I don’t think it’s possible to separate the two functions from each other. You can assign a dedicated Dynamic Subdivision toggle, but the Increase Subdivision function will always toggle on Dynamic if there are no actual subdivision levels present.
If you have some twitchy fingers and this is a problem for you, until Pixologic has the chance to take a look at it in a subsequent release, I 'd suggest temporarily re-assigning your hotkey to a new combo. This will force you to retrain your muscle memory with more conscious deliberation. Either that or drag the classic subdivision slider to an easy spot on your interface, and train yourself to drag that when you actually want to increase a subdivision level, and use another key for a dedicated Dynamic Subdivision toggle. I realize neither is ideal, but it is the best I can suggest for now.
Really wish they’d take this feature out. It slows down my machine and I have no desire to use it. Can’t seem to find a way to switch the hotkeys for it either. Let me know if you’ve found a good work around. Its a pain to have to do this for each subtool and then again if you combine things into a new subtool.
You may not benefit from it, but dynamic subdivision is an extraordinarily useful feature and isnt going anywhere. They just need to separate the activation from the traditional subdivision keys to keep people from accidentally switching it on, or include some kind of locking mechanism.
