Any fix for the dreaded layer popup bug ??

As we know, a mesh’s base layer cannot be modified while any regular layers are visible.
However quick switching a mesh (i.e. alt-clicking) brings this popup as zbrush thinks we are trying to do a subtractive brush stroke.

The popups are :
• “mesh has polypaint layers. turn off MRGB draw mode or active layer recording mode and try again.”
• “mesh has deformation(shape) layers. turn off zadd/zsub draw modes or active layer recording mode and try again.”

This really gets on my nerves after the first 100 times it shows, is there any workaround to bypass this ?

Try increasing the Preferences>Interface>Click Distance. If that helps you can store the new setting by pressing Shift+Ctrl+i.

Thanks marcus for the quick reply.
I’ve tried increasing the setting, but unfortunately it did not help.

You could try this macro for selecting subtools. You’ll need to assign a new hotkey to it but it may help solve your problem:

thanks marcus, I guess the only viable solution for me would be to leave layers on record mode.
