Answered: Shift key and One Open Subpalette

I have several palettes docked in the left side tray.
In Preferences > Interface, I have:

  • Auto Collapse OFF
  • One Open Subpalette ON
  • Left Tray ON

According to the popup help for One Open Subpalette, if I click on one left tray palette title it will open that one and close the others (which works), but it says if I then Shift-Click on another left tray palette title, it will open that one as well, without closing the first one.

I can’t seem to get this to work. The “Shift” override part seems to be ignored.

It sounds like you’re misunderstanding the help info.

First, this modifiers applies to sub-palettes rather than to palettes. You can have multiple palettes open, but only one sub-palette in each. Second, the Shift modifier tells ZBrush to override the one sub-palette modifier and allow you to have to sub-palettes open in that palette. Without holding Shift, clicking on a different sub-palette in that palette would cause the first to close.

I have tested things and they are working correctly.

Yes, I saw the word “subpalette” and thought “palette”. The feature as intended is useful for the palettes with a lot of subpalettes. Thanks for the clarification.
