Part of what allows ZBrush to work with such incredibly high polygon counts as it can handle is that it focuses pretty much all of your system resources on the current SubTool. That by definition means that the other SubTools may not be sculpted at the same time.
Imagine a model with 20 SubTools of 8 million polygons each. Because of the way ZBrush is designed, you can do that. In order to make them all able to be edited at the same time, your computer would have to start manipulating 160 million polys in real-time. There’s not a desktop on the market that could handle that.
