Answered: Sculpting for 3d printing question

Hey guys does anybody know any good tutorials or helpful links when it comes to taking an existing character and prepping it to be printed? I know there is an older tutorial with the shell face guy, but thats not exactly what i had in mind. I need to take a character that was created without 3d printing in mind and make it printable. The catch is that it needs keys. So i need to separate the arms and head so it can be molded and then have those pieces fit together. Can anybody help me? Thanks!

I’m not aware of a tutorial for this but what I would do is the following:

  1. Split the model up into multiple SubTools for each separate piece.
  2. Fill the holes.
  3. Sculpt your tabs.
  4. Use Matchmaker or projection to create matching slots.
  5. Use Decimation Master to reduce your polygon counts without sacrificing detail.
  6. Use 3D Print Exporter to export as STL.

Hello,

Do you have any suggesting on to import a photo and 3D printing a person face? I’m using Zbrush

Appreciate any help.

Thank you!!
