Answered: Out of Disk Space

Upon launching ZBrush, I receive the following message:

Out of disk space. Virtual memory file can’t be used until more disk space is made available. It is recommended that you save your work and restart ZBrush.

I am on an iMac, 2.8 GHz, 8 GB Memory running Mac OS X V 10.6.6 and have 875 GB available on the hard drive. I do not use parallels or bootcamp.

This sounds like a permissions issue and will almost always prevent successful activation as well.

Please select the ZBrush 4 folder in the Finder and press CMD+I to get info.

At the bottom of the info window, click the lock to unlock permissions. You’ll need to enter your admin password.

Next, select Everyone and assign the Read & Write permission. Then click the gear under the list and choose the option to apply to contained items. When done, just lock permissions again.

If Everyone already has Read & Write permission, change it to something else, apply to contained items, change it back and apply again.

This should resolve your issue.
