I’m new to zbrush, and this is probably a rookie mistake. I had to unwrap my UV’s on a single creature as 2 seperate objects. I exported them together and imported them in zbrush, but zbrush layered the uv’s on top of eachother. My question is: Can I seperated the sets of uv’s in zbrush so that they aren’t on top of eachother, or am I screwed and have to start all over?
Are the UV’s in separate UV spaces? For example, one in the 0,0 to 1,1 space and the other in something like 1,0 to 2,1?
If so, then after importing your model you can use Tool>Polygroups>UV Groups to assign polygroups based on the UV’s. Then you can use Tool>SubTool>GrpSplit to break the model into separate SubTools based on this grouping.
You can now detail your model and create your separate normal maps.
If your model truly has overlapping UV’s you’ll need to change that. This can be done in your original application. Then just import the new UV’d version into subdivision level 1 of your ZBrush model.
