Answered: Lost Lowest Sub-D Level

Hello all.

I`m in a bit of a pickle.

I have been working on a model and have got to the 5th subD level. But i have just noticed my Lowest SubD level is not the original mesh i imported. Its of a higher res!!!

I am assuming i pressed the del lower button in the geometry tab which deleted my original lowest subD.

Does any one know the best way to add a lower sub_d onto the stack? if that is possible.

…or transfer the data over to a new lower res model.

I need the lower sub d for skinning, uving etc…

Many thanks in advance

There are two options:

  1. Use the reconstruct subdiv feature in the Tool>Geometry menu while at the lowest existing level. This will try to create a lower level.

  2. If that doesn’t work you can import the original model again, append it as a SubTool, divide it to have the correct number of polygons, then use Project All to copy the details from the one where you’ve deleted the levels.

Cheers mate.

recontruct subds worked a treat. happy days!!!

Thanks for the help
