Answered: Keeping your model archive "Neat And Tidy"

Hi,
Please excuse my newb question, i could not find any info on it…so here goes:

Where do folks keep their model/ztools/shapes when they are finished? I got all these “skull-02.ztl, skull-03.ztl…etc…” files with no organization, or easy way to browse them without opening (takes time)

is there a ZB tool wiki feature i’m missing?
Do you keep all your models in a ‘toolbox’ ready for access so you can dynamesh them into something else completely different?

thanks for your patience.

Phil

Make use of LightBox.

For ZTL files, all you need to do is create folders within the ZBrush 4R5\ZTools folder. For example, you could have a folder called “Skulls” and put your various skull sculpts in there. Use whatever organization method makes sense to you.

In ZBrush, you would then use LightBox and go to the Tools tab. This will show your various sub-folders, which you can browse to just like you would with your OS. The difference is that ZBrush will show you previews of each file so that you don’t need to open them one by one until you find what you need.

You can also do this with textures, alphas, brush presets, materials and more. Each of these has a corresponding ZFolder within your root ZBrush directory. Within each folder, feel free to organize however you please.

Very helpful thank you Aurick. I had thought keeping my models in Lightbox would bog down my ZB software/system but i tried it and it works excellent. Such a great, user-friendly design!:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
