Answered: Is it possible to...

…take a piece from one version of an object and use it to repair an area of another version of the same object? (Without getting rid of the Subdivision Layers…)

I’m working on my first serious zBrush project and accidentally distroyed one part of my model while sculpting on another part (I thought that it was hidden, but obviously the bottom wasn’t and the option “Double Sided” was unchecked so I didn’t notice).

I have been saving incrementally, so I tried to merge the different parts as subtools, but all my Subdivition Layers was deleted when doing so, and since I plan to use this in another 3D-program later on, that’s not appreciated.

Append the good version of the model to your damaged one. Select the part that has the damage. Mask the damaged area, then invert the mask. Now simply use Tool>SubTool>Project All to copy the sculpt and/or polypaint from the good version. Once done, you can delete the older version’s SubTool and clear the mask on your newer version.

Great thanks for the reply, I’ll try this out!
