[Answered] GoZ scaling issues with Max

This has been bugging me for ages now.

If I export from Zbrush to max with Goz the scale is fine. If I export from max to zbrush initially the scale comes in huge. About 100 times the size it should be. Yet if I export from max via an obj its normal.

Anyone have any idea what’s going on? It’s been driving me crazy for over a year.

When you are exporting/importing manually through the OBJ importer/exporter of Max, look at the scale settings, if they are both have the same value. GoZ is using this window settings internally, then if you are modifying them, it will also affect GoZ.

I’ll have a check - but I’m not modifying anything in the obj settings. Just exporting as normal (and not altering any import/export scales in zbrush either)

Goz gets things to zbrush and when I export back it arrives the same size it left. it just appears IN zbrush at 100 times larger than it should (to the extent the floor is a tiny grid and any attempt to dynamesh normally kills the machine because the poly count is hitting so high)

(and just tested it with a box). Box exported on normal obj settings (and tried zbrush settings with scale set to 1). Comes in fine. GoZ - comes in at 100 times the size. Both when exported BACK to Max arrive at an identical size despite the difference in Zbrush. Which is annoying.

I’ve posted on this issue in the past. The information may or may not be correct or may have changed in newer versions since the post.
