Answered: Default lighting

Hello,

This may be a silly question to ask, but is there a default setting available for the lighting pallet?

I was playing with the settings on a model, and I seem to be stuck with them. The matcap - grey clay is more like chrome now.

I have looked at various manuals and the on-line Z docs, but cannot find a solution

Any answers please.

lights don’t effect matcaps.

lights also reset at every run of Zbrush (unless you load a .zpr)

Any material with the “MatCap” designation is using a light map. As a result, its shading is baked into the material. That’s why it ignores the lights that you set.

All other materials will use the Light palette settings.

MatCap is a super convenient way to quickly get great results. But it does have limitations in that you don’t have full freedom to customize the lighting.
