Answered: Changing draw size without having to click

Hello!

I wanted to change the draw size without having to mouse-click.

I hold down S, and the draw size box appears.
As I read somewhere, it is now sufficient to just move the mouse vertical to change the draw size and then release the s key again.

I understood it so that no mouse button has to be pressed.

But I can only change the draw size if I left-click the slider and drag it.
This is really time-taking.

Does anybody see my mistake?

Thank you.

If no keypress is required, then how is ZBrush going to know you want your drag to change the draw size as opposed to sculpting the model, rotating it or scrolling through a palette? If you want to only click and drag with no keypress, then you need to click and drag on the Draw Size slider above the canvas.

There is, however, a plugin included with ZBrush that will increment the draw size with a single key press. Pressing { or } will decrease or increase the draw size, just like with Photoshop.

I watched some tutorial on YouTube where people amazingly quickly change the draw size (and the video was not sped up).
In the docu it is saying

Assuming you have re-assigned the default hotkeys:

  1. Press and hold the hotkey ‘S’ for Draw size.
  2. Press and hold the hotkey ‘O’ for Focal Shift.
  3. Press and hold the hotkey ‘U’ for Z Intensity.
  4. Press and hold the hotkey ‘I’ for RGB Intensity.

Move cursor sideways to adjust - no need to draw, just move cursor. While adjusting, the cursor updates in real-time and the top left NoteBar also shows the new values - useful for when the cursor is not over the model.
Release the hotkey to continue sculpting/painting.

It is not mentioned that the mouse button has to be pressed, so I was assuming I was doing something wrong.

I am not talking about the keypress. I was annoyed by the fact that I have to click the slider.

I can only change the size this way:

  1. Press “s”, release it.
  2. Move mouse cursor over slider, hold down left mouse button and drag the slider to the desired position.
  3. Release the mouse button.

I have no idea why the slider has to be clicked.
Why can I not just hold down the S key, move the mouse unless the red circle has the desired size and then release the S key?

You’re talking about the Adjust Plugin . The buttons are in the Adjust Plugin menu in the ZPlugin palette. Assign hotkeys to those buttons and then you’ll be able to do what you want.
