Another Wings3D Doodle...Robo WIP

Yes I can understand that mtb. I’m amazed at how efficient the workflow is in dedicated modelers like wings and silo. I have never used C4d but I know there is a free version 5 or 6 i think. I did see some vid tuts using mesh surgery which blew my mind. Very nice toolset and it left me thinking that the base C4D modeler might be pretty efficient. The hypernurbs are an interesting approach to subd from what I have read. Anyway I enjoy watching your poly work.

PS. Do you know Matuka is a name from a source in El Paso? Hint perhaps you heard it when you took your girlfriend out for a date.

Really?!
Not familiar with the name.

As for the free Cinema version. Thats 6.
As for mesh surgery…awesome tools set but you need 100+ dollars and version 8. :frowning:
Oh well.

Thanks for the comments.

Peace.

Have you ever taken your girlfriend to see Viva El Paso?

No. My wife and I have never gone…and not only has the latest show been changed from the original…it is also the last show… :frowning:
Sorry.

Ahh yes I have heard of the financial troubles and misdoings of the management. Many many years ago I was an actor as well as a technician there. Matuka was the name of an indian character that fought against spain etc. Oh well I’ll drink to it’s ending. It’s too bad the two guys who caused all the problems are probably going to get away with it. Stories of greed never seem to have happy endings.
Anyway you might want to catch it before it’s gone. If you do go, take notice of the stone walls all around the place. The stonemason was a master and he had hidden all kinds of neat designs into the walls.

A material test before I finish the model. Thought you all would like to see. I wanted to simulate a silver flake under a pearlescent layer. Kinda merging a vintage and modern paint coat Looks like an old cadillac of robos…lol.

Very nice polish robot :sunglasses:
Pilou :+1:

flippin heck, have not looked at your work for a while, you’ve improved, well, a hell of a lot i really like the tail-light style eyes, gonna have to have a look at this wings 3d

total success! also, its very pleasing to the eye to see a bot without scratches, rust, intestine gears hanging out or even worse for the first time in ages - must be right off the conveyor belt

bravissimo, MtB!

LOVELY finish… :+1: :+1: :+1:
I think you nailed it, Mike…

:sunglasses:

Hard edges, smooth curves, silver, chrome,
hardened glass… you got it all, and then
yougive it a final POLISH!
:+1:

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Here is yet another but with model tweaks.
Robo-LXE…lol.

…and the back change…

Moving onto the arms now…finally!

Hi MtB
Just a little precision
The red “eyes” are facettes with a “material” or they are separate objects ?
In resume the robot is “one” 3D object or many ?
From the first wings image seems one “one” but…I am waiting your answer
(with febrility  )
Thx by advance!
Pilou

The wings model is in three pieces. The head unit. The body unit, and the back fins. When exported, the material seperate to objects in C4D so there are seperate objects for each materil group.

Thx
I shall go to sleep quietly now
Pilou
Ps If you see something wrong in my “maxim”
on the signature don’t hesitate !
Google gives me that “Is beautiful what likes without concept”
Subtilities of this language is not my cup of thea
Pss So if I good understand the “red eyes” are facets with a special red material ?

Yep. :+1:

Hi MtB
Your site rocks now!
All is perfect
Except the 2 words “About” and “Resume” who are blured !!!
Nobody is perfect
Pilou

Thank you. You can read it…lol Though they are not blurred on my end…go figure.

Hi, kind of late but I just now saw this post (I don’t often get into the Community Forum) Great Model & texturing! Can I pick your brains?? I have just discovered wings and am fooling around with it but so far I have found that the obj format won’t import into Zbrush, keep getting error messages. And if I render a model in Wings, I can’t save the render or export it anywhere. If you have any suggestions I would be greatful! Thanks!

File will not import due to N-gon. ZBrush doesnt like polys with more than 4 sides. You can, in wings, go to one of the menus (can’t remember right now) and select faces with 5 or more sides to help identify them. As fr the render, you can select the box next to the words openGL and click the dot next to render to file. Easy peasy.
BTW- ANOTHER color tweak…just fooling around.
