another try at head. *sighhhh*

o.k here I go again. last one didn’t work out so good, let’s see where this goes. I dicided instead of z-spheres or a 3d-sphere I would go in a different direction, and model from a singleframe poly (6-sided box). I think I might do a space helmet for this guy, and go into a little more. o.k that’s it for now. I’ll post when I got more too him.

I am not fishing for comments, so you can IM me with this answer if ya got one, should I do a traditional flesh tone on skin, or do something more alien, with swirls of some color, something tattoo’ish? and even transform the skin to something more alien, or stay more human centered?

o.k thanks!

He looks good. I would make him human. Age his teeth up and stain them yellow. If you ploop an old world war one era leather flyers cap on him he’d look like a crazy german pilot. Maybe the Red Baron himself.

i couldnt do any better:cool: it looks like an alien from halo(that means its good)

O.K here is the direction i was kinda heading. I like the style of helmet, or the idea, but I think this particular one needs to be reworked again. I like the eyes but maybe i could change the color. I messed up something with the teeth cause when I loaded them, the gums had a new material, so I must of changed a material before I saved???

I want to just “crank” out work, but I really should take my time, and be more concerned with quality then quantity. I think I will do that with this guy.

I will retool the teeth to be more real, and hopefully I can figure out something with them to get a transparent feel. I will retool the helmet all together, and make chin straps and more gadgets for it. Not sure about the human thing, I guess I will go with a more human feel then “alien”.

Does anyone know how to add a second, and third shader to a material? i’ve used some that have them by default, but is there anyway to assign, or activate a second level shader within a material?

Oh and if anyone know how to address the eyelash issue, that would be helpfull. How the heck do you go about eyelashes, paint? model? o.k till next time.

im not sure about the eye brows but the bleeding eyes look great.

Try in Projection Master - use the MRGB brush and change materials when you “paint”.

reworked the teeth (done with multi-marker) modeled gums, then did some different teeth, assembled with multimarker, then made one mesh, and added some cracks and whatnot.
moved the inner eyelids down to give a more angry look, and I suppose I will manipulate the brow later too, just to add to the effect, but if the helmet is going to overlap so much I won’t, and I might be so brave to try and add a facemask, windshield (transparent) fighterpilot style, uniglass with slide control on top, “i don’ know, my eyes might be bigger then my stomach” LOL. OH also, I just added a little to the windpipe, and a little to the jugular vein. in addition I am putting in a tounge. It won’t really be seen, but whatever can be seen will just add to the detail, and for such a fast simple model, it’s worth it. o.k that’s it for now. I don’t know when the next will be I am busy with school.
thanks for the feedback, because of the previous one on the teeth, I did feel compelled to redo them.

Why don’t you check this out.

bill those are some awsome links, very very helpful, the first one seems to be about 99% maya, which I don’t own, though I’ve considered investing in, but after checking out some of the quicktime previews of it’s features, it seems it might be a bit out of my class, i mean it’s taken me a year to learn zbrush and even then i am only about 60% into it’s potential.

Anyway, thank you so much for the links, i am gonna study them a little more carefully later on, thank you!

the teeth look a whole lot better!:+1:

o.k, this is pretty close to what the helmet and head arrangement will be like, I will texture the helmet, and head more, add an upper body, as well as a ship/aircraft like canopy and various other “gizmo’s” I promise I won’t keep update this thread with every little piece added, I am sure people are sick of seeing it pop up already, but i have one question or need some help.

I can’t get my transparency to render… I am rendering on best, flattened, single layer, and in the material settings, transparency is 100%, ambient and reflection is turned down or off, as well as other things “i think” might effect the transparency, I need this for the helmet shield, and the cockpit canopy, if you have any advice, please help…

o.k I won’t bother you all with this thread anymore, until i am near the end, or need help help or advice.

Thank you,

i like the new helmet and shades man.its looks tight!!!

O.K I said i would refrain from posting pictures until it was almost done, but I just had to post this. I want to show workflow, and… oh crap, I just wanted to show how it was coming along, I am guilty… I am thinking the next one will be the final. I did figure out tranparency, though not displayed here… but I can’t figure out how to do multiple transparencies. I did make a cockpit canopy, but when I tried to do transparency for the glass, it wouldn’t do both the cockpit glass and the helmet shield transparent, ANY SOLUTIONS???

Also, the canopy glass really filters the character, so I might do a half, or just go another direction, and make it more like a tank cockpit, with no visible outside, but controls and “whatnot”.

In addition, I like detail, and quality texturing, but I really like these smooth lines, and harder shaded, and density materials. essentially I don’t have the skills in texturing to do something more fine. O.K sorry to post so much on this one piece… next one will be last, “fweeuuuuu, TG”

shoot i forget what its called…in the render palette do you have merge layers(?) on or off? I think if you have them on seperate layers you might need to have it off but haha forget for sure…anyways try it the opposite way you have it set and see what happens.

he looks like he is ready to kick some arse…am happy to hear he has a canopy cuz the those teeth would just be a bug collector!

it looks great but, the only thing you might want to change are the arms:D . they are kinda flimsy lookin. other than that it looks great

o.k, i am done with this one, i am glad too, i’ve been itching to move onto the next project, being inspired by just about everyone out there posting stuff.

looks like a million bucks!:+1:
