Another Mac problem, or am I just a divvy?

Since I moved to 3.12 I’ve been having trouble with the following texture painting method:

Drop a sculpt to the canvas (projection master.)
Set Z proj to 0, and RGB to 100
Draw in a 3D plane polymesh with a texture applied.
Switch to edit mode and use the move brush to align the texture to the sculpt.
Pickup the sculpt and have the texture from the 3D plane projected onto my sculpt.

The problem I’m having is when I switch to edit mode and apply the move brush. Parts of my model disappear from the screen.

So am I an idiot? Or has something gone wrong on the software/hardware side of things?

Thanks for any ideas.

Could you show a picture of what’s happening?

Thanks for helping with this, Aurick.

I’ve attached two images.

In the first, with the face model dropped to the canvas, I’ve just drawn a Plane3D Polymesh over it. Notice that the texture comes across, but the alpha doesn’t seem to be working at all.

In the second, I’ve switched to edit mode in order to transform the polymesh and line up the texture with the face model. When I touch the model in this mode, I get the mess of black boxes you can see here. If I do anything to redraw the screen (like scale the frame) the mess goes away and the polymesh has transformed. But since I couldn’t see it transform, it wasn’t really usable.

I may be making a mistake here, but I seem to remember this working just fine in 3.1 in Fusion

My system spec: Mac OS X 10.5.5, MacPro 2x3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 8GB Ram, ATI Radeon X1900 XT

Many thanks,

W
