***Announcing ZBrush 4 for Windows And MacOSX

A bit harsh but I totally agree with you ! Thumbs up for Pixologic and ZBrush

“1:15PM - 2:15PM: Pixologic Presents ZBrush 4, Tips and Tricks”

1 hour of presentation, is there a streaming live of the event? i really want to see that  !

watch your blood pressure there man, we all want to live to see the release of Zbrush 4. There’s nothing wrong with making your voice heard. How is Pixologic suppose to make anything innovative if they don’t hear the requests of there users? And as far as Sculptris goes (obviously directed at me), have you even tried Sculptris before calling me a drone for hoping for a similar technology in my favorite app? I found it three days ago and was very impressed but what mostly ran through my mind was how awesome it’s technology would be inside Zbrush. My comments aren’t void of “thank yous”, and i’m sure Pixologic knows how much their fans love them. Doesn’t mean Zbrush is perfect, nor am I complaining about things it doesn’t do. Only suggesting things i think would improve it.

What is this thread open for if not to share ideas show our gratitude?

Ha ha! Awesome! I didn’t know David Mitchell uses ZBrush. I agree with you. Especially on how insanely innovative Pixologic and ZBrush is. PROPS to PIXOLOGIC!!

Can’t wait for Z4, so I get a chance to play with sketching with ZSpheres on my Mac.

its just simply that people want everything. thats just unreasonable.
If we are going to have a tool that allows us to be competitive sometimes
we “need” to work within the confines of that tool/medium. any artist worth anything knows this. its like trying to make water colors paint like oils.
yes you can do that, but its a lot of extra work. why not just simply paint
with oils. you know what i mean.

things will change and hopefully Zbrush will continue to bring new tools and
innovations to that table. I would say lets have patience with each other
and with Pixologic.

i’m just as excited as all of you. i hope to see new painting tools and possible
some other things i have been waiting for. but i am not about to light
someone on fire because they say something that might be less than
intelligent.

I think the guys at Pixologic are paying close attention to our needs and the
completion. lets just wait and give them our support.

Lets just see what zbrush 4 has shall we before we demand zbrush 5 please.

I think you’re kind of missing the point. Personally I never asked for the ‘uber sculpting app’ which catered for everything, all I want is better painting tools, that’s it. Have a rollout for painting tools like clone stamp, drybrush, etc. and I’ll be happy with that

I think it might be quite easy to add a tiltcut , something like the trimnormal or polish but ruled by the tilt? I know everyone has his own idea of what would be cool to have in z4 but id like to try this one. I think the most of us use wacom tablets and tilt would be usefull for 3d…

I’ve always thought tilt support in 3D would be sweet.

Good News

I’m a mac and I think I just wet my pants a little… OK a lot.

XSI is one of the most open application. The SDk is clear, understandable scripting is not limited to one language, but vbscript, jscript, Python and pearl supported for plugins (not just the C++, or exclusive languages like mel, and maxscript)

One our programmers told me, that working with the Softimage SDK was a relief after working on a Max SDK.

Zbrush 4.0 =

Best of luck at Siggy!

Ahhhh…

I am a 3d newbie, and looking at both ZBrush and Modo. I had finally decided to get Modo now, and then ZBrush a few months down the line, but this announcement may have forced my hand.

I want both… they’re both so good and more importantly for a hobbyist, they’re both such fun to use.

Thanks for throwing uncertainty back into the mix… I had almost stopped deliberating for 5 minutes there.

While I don’t know what you model, I too am a ZB and Modo User. My own suggestion is to start off in Modo and then move into ZB especially if you are on the Mac like myself. Now I model historical building, gladiator helmets, submarines so I have a slant toward Modo to start off with. But ZB takes time and Modo will allow you to accomplish more I think as you go forward. Adding ZB then will be a natural especially using GoZ with Modo. If you are really into figures then ZB would be the natural choice, but if you want to get really good at it, you may find you will never have time for Modo…

Now that’s from a retired software dev… 63 years old and trying to remember all the commands, and keyboard short cuts!!

Good Luck, life will be fun regardless which one you select first.

Thanks for the advice Don. I’m a software developer too, coming from a 2d art background. Figure-drawing is my main strength (and interest) and so modelling people would be my main focus (but not exclusively).

I’m not expecting miracles, and I don’t expect to be producing stuff like the amazing ones shown in this forum and site (at least not for a loooong time). For me it’s all about enjoyment, and hopefully producing something I’m proud of!

Looks like I’ll have to get both… and tell the wife later.

Meaning it’s ‘solid’ or it it will sink fast? I hope the former is true

If that’s true, then you can kiss me square on the face my non-Yankee buddy  Launch is th ninth of August my friend.

I agree, though I’d weep a bit, I’d rather wait for a solid product.

First off, to all the Pixologic developers, I’m sure you’re way past content lock (I hope), which means you’re probably crunching like mad to squash bugs and test, test, test… So anyway, “good luck” and don’t forget to ask your bosses for some serious comp time when this thing ships.

Secondly, to all the ZBrushers out there, “Cheers”. This is sort of an early ChristmaKwanzaHanukkah. I can’t wait to plug this thing in and have some fun.
