***Announcing ZBrush 4 for Windows And MacOSX

surprise:D

Hey Yoshi,

You can already do this in ZBrush! In the Documents palette at the top you can can resize the image up to 8000 pixels squared, and then the Export button in the same palette will save as: psd, pict, bmp, and tif. Hope that helps!

Thanks,
Dave Wolf

I’m doubtful they’ll get rid of polypainting, but also doubtful Zmapper will be brought back. Some of the points INFINITE brought up would be great to see though… True texture painting, Paint layers would be great, don’t think there’s enough good painting tools

…thanks Dave.

I like the way Zbrush currently handles texture painting. Competition is solid in terms of normal texture painting apps. If you really need that functionality, it’s worth grabbing one that’s dedicated to it.

“At Siggraph, Sze will demonstrate hair sculpting techniques and workflow using new brushes and topology techniques as well as technical aspects for facial animation using an exciting new brush in ZBrush 4.”

New brushes and TOPOLOGY( OMG !) techniques…YAY! Facial ANIMATION! yay!

I would keep Polypainting, but its not the best soloution as to direct texture painting. Zapplink works well, but realy only with HD in use if you want the best texture outcome. I think if HD was optimized to work with a faster more direct method of previewing, this would make things alot better. Of course you cant beat the speed of direct texture painting, if there was no lag like Modo.

Sculpting on layers has the problem that you cannot add a layer on a higher sub d level once you have a lower one set. And any additional sculpting done on a higher Sub D levels than the set lower layer will not be included in the layer, only sculpt on the layers sub D level and below. Bringing back in a mesh with altered topology will result it loosing all layers.

Having layers for texture seems somthing that most if not all people want including myself. Id like to beable to make specular maps with a proper preview driven by the map also. Lighting system could so with a update too. So for me im for improoving whats there as higher priority.

honestly, that is not true. you only have to deactivate the current sculpting layer before stepping up to a higher level.
by deactivating I mean just clicking the layer itself, so it is not highlighted anymore, but not make it invisible. seriously - try it

you really can for example have a few layers on level 1, then on 2 or three for shaping and then some on the highest for detailing like hair, porse, cracks etc…

also importing altered topology does not make you loose your layers. I do it all the time.

If you disable a layer, then create a layer on a higher level, you have lost your lower layers all the time the higher layer visable. Likwise, if you enable your lower layer, and go to your higher sub d level where there was a layer, you cannot activate it. You cannot have multiple layers from different levels and be active all at the same time. Layers when used for just High frequency details ahve to be done on the higher level anyway, or in HD. When often I like to store layers when trying different low volume sculpts, and see them combined with higher levels. It would be good to beable to see al layers from all levels at the same time, and choose which ones to keep or not.

When importing a altered topology base, your base level is normaly at level 1, the lowest. When you import that new mesh, Zbrush will ask if you to press yes if you want to transfer higher res details to this new mesh. You sellect no, you have no sub d levels at all, you press yes, all your layers are gone, but your sub d levels are kept. If you can realy achive keeping all sculpting layers not permanatly applied, then id like to know how please.

Not everything is a big wrinkly monster from mars.

Why do you think that you need to sculpt details into everything?. Not every surface requires bumpy details. So it’s very wasteful on memory and performance to divide a surface up into millions of polygons just because you want to sprinkle some color across it.

Making ZB4 suggestions this late in the game is a waste of typing. They’ve already planned and completed all the new features, and at this point are probably only doing service beta releases of it.

I’d like to see a slow teaser leak though if new features, instead of them blowing their wad in one major press release.

That would also drive traffic to Pixo’s display, so people would be eager to see features they’d just read about as well…not a bad advertising tactic!

(They could also advertise that you can hold zrbush however you like, with NO loss of signal or functionality at all!

Wow, my birthday is on 8/9/10, so Z4 being launched on that date will be a “nice” birthday present for myself! That’s alright. I definitely can’t wait to start using Zbrush with “all” the bells and whistles with Modo and C4D.

Congrats Pixologic on still owning of the best organic high detail modeler out there, and keeping the upgrades free for all Zbrush owners is still definitely appreciated. Some software companies still charge almost full price to upgrade to the next version of their software. —

o my god.
THANK YOU ________ with GOZ ___________ finally
I will get holyday to study ALL the tutorial you will load on the site, i will study it 24/24, _
Autodesk will perish

Quote: “More information about ZBrush 4.0 and its features will be presented closer to launch date.”

How much closer will be till we see more info or has all been show sofar?

For more than a year Mac users waited, and waited, and waited for ZappLink to be released.

Pixologic is not ashamed to keep using the word “soon” on the website for so long.

Meantime, they waste precious software engineer’s expertise in redundant plugins such as UV Master, that any other software can manage so much better.

Or keep playing around and bragging on crappy muscle show-off animation sequences, that are also much better performed in other platforms.

I hope and pray that ZappLink for Mac will be available “soon”, and I mean this lifetime, not next one.

But I know that the odds are I might be disappointed soon, and stay like that for years to come.

I am aware that any kind of real world “soon” expectations may be expecting too much from Pixologic.

No one knows at all yet.

information on when more information will be released will be released closer to the information release date.

Reading this thread is just as much fun as ripping off your own nails with pliers. All of sudden people are throwing out of them what they would like to see in Z4. Who cares? What is wrong with you - Z4 is DONE. D O N E.
What it contains and what not - we will all see soon enough (and after initial “OMG, I LOVE YOU PIXOLOGIC!” whining surely will start all over…).

The most ridiculus thing I could read here was “no more random innovative features”. If you dont want innovative soft then buy yourself mudbox. Or use old version of ZB. Simple as that.
If something is first of a kind, always needs polishing. Pixologic is the only company I expect to show something I have never seen before. And only with balls big enough to ignore whiners, take a risk and actually BE INNOVATIVE. If mother nature was like you guys (those whining on innovation) we would all be still some unicellular organism. Yes, I admit Zbrush can have new features that I would never use - but every new version of this application is an attempt to get things to another level.

Pixologic is making something totally new while in all those posts here I see just grabbing ideas on internet. Someone heard about Mari? He want to paint like in Mari. Someone heard about Sculptris? He want Zbrush to behave like that. And so on. You have a GoZ feature but some of you still want “basic poly modeling” inside of Zbrush - come on! What is it - “Dumbest Idea Contest”? If so - there is some wild competition going on here.

Looks like there trying to let The SIGGRAPH 2010 expose’ first …Think July 27 LA is it? Maybe after that we see some highlights.
