***Announcing ZBrush 3.5 and GoZ for Windows and MacOSX

it´s really a pity that goZ for pc users is still not available

ZB 3.5 is not avaible for Mac user and GoZ is not avaible for Win user.

Mac and Win user hope in a new release for both.

I can not believe how long this is taking and with no word on whats going on about it either.

Educated guess. They are still working on it and it will be ready when it’s ready.

Has anyone had any luck with getting the “.ma” aspect to work for GoZ when going from ZB3.5r3 to FULLY work within Maya? <img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/pixo/atn.gif”>

Also why is there a .goz file format as an option in the PC version of ZB3.5r3. What purpose does this serve?

Yes the .ma works fine for me in Maya 2009 and Maya 2010. What are the exact steps you are doing?

Zbrush questions

Hey Paul!!! I’m still doing this just like I thought you had shown me a few weeks ago.

  1. At the lowest subdiv lvl (highest only for the texture map), I create all he maps putting them in all in their thumbnail windows.

  2. I then export the lowest subdiv lvl of my ztool to a .ma format into an empty directory. This creates for me four files: a .ma, m. Normal map, my texture map, and my displacement map.*

  3. In Maya 2010, I “open” my .ma file and an error message. It says "errors have occured while reading this scene that may result in data loss. Please check the script editor for details. I hit “ok” and get a wire frame of my object with no shader applied to it. Refering to the hypershade window, I can see the three textures (displ, norm, and texture) under the texture tab; but nothing is created in the materials tab, accept there is a displacement node with the displacement map pluged in. Under utilities the node for the normal map is shown with the normal map pluged in. Looking under the shading groups tab I can see a shading group called "baby_37_GoZ_testing_blinnSG. I then access its’ attributes and can’t find any of the previous node plugged in.*

I watched you do this, with this same file, without even openning the hypershade window. I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong.*

However, I have been able to get the process to work. It’s just not 100% of the time for me though. I did the exact same thing for a demo. It too was Maya>ZBrush>Maya, and it worked? **
*
Plus there where a couple of times where I wasn’t able to save.

Also btw, what is the “GoZ complete binary .GoZ" and the "GoZ Binary.GoZ” used for on a PC? * ****

Ryan

There has to be something going on with your Maya. It works fine for me everytime.

Do not worry about the GoZ files. They are there when GoZ is completely rolled out into the PC.

“Following the release of 3.5, we will continue to refine ZBrush 4 and its features (such as LightBoxand Spotlight) for release in the 4th Quarter of 2009.”

Have I missed something?

No you didn’t miss anything.

Pixologic missed the press of the return key when posting the updated news that superseded the original announcement. That’s what I heard anyway.

Perhaps we can band together and purchase Mavis Beacon teaches typing tutor for them to see if that helps in future.

Just trying to keep things lighthearted.

Anyone notice the ad on the back of POST magazine? Zbrush 3.5 “available now for PC and Mac”

Did I miss something or is this false advertising?

I hope it means that they are finally planning on releasing it soon for the mac; that would be complete awesomeness!!

do you have a scan of it? it would be a good news for everybody

So has anyone else seen the ad?

March 2nd, 2010, and little reason to believe ZBrush 3.5 for Mac will release this month any more than the last few.

Given how few and how far between updates have been for Mac ZBrush (also how serious the bugs, and duration until fixed), the whole “it’s okay because they give us free stuff” justification sounds very hollow anymore. Free updates only have value if released.

Well a kind of release date for a mac version of 3.5

We are working to release 3.5 for Mac during this first quarter of 2010

Would be good news if true…

That could have been a miss labeling on their part, seeing as zbrush is available for both platforms; just not 3.5 lol.

What I would like to hope is that it was just a timing issue and that they posted that add to come out around the time that they would release 3.5 for the Mac. If that is the case—as it well may be given the recent post that Aurick made—then it very well may be out soon.

I really hope so as it has been long over due.

Depending on the date of the publication… then this may or may not be false advertising

…I think that we can expect to see the 3.5 mac release this month!

Thank You Pixologic.
