Im looking for a Easy to learn Animation Program for my Zbrush creations?
I want somthink quite entry level but advanced enougth to make relistic movements. Im still learning Zbrush and find this software easy enougth to learn due to its impresive support and tutorials, so im looking for somthink on that scale learning curve.
If it’s just animation - the best thing I can recommend is Motion Builder 6.
If you want to do other stuff, Maya, XSI, or even 3DS Max, Messiah, etc…
Check them all out, but MB will have you up and running in a day with all the tools you could want to animate and reuse animation, apply to other characters and use mocap or combine moacap and keys. I and several other long time people have moved over to MB for the realtime speed and flexibility for animating.
Yup. Export as OBJ. This will take your texture out properly as well. You might have to flip it when you goto your app.
Now the more detail the harder most apps will be to open it without serious system resources. Just a reminder.
If it was MB that you are grabbing it will try to simplify your geometry to work with it. The cool part is you can save as FBX for export to other apps.
You will have to create a rig or acquire one, several samples exist on the MB site under the forums or support area. I’d use an existing one and make life easy - you can add or modify it, but it will be named correctly. MB has a pretty good skinning tool, a movie exists on the site to help you, I know the info exports to Maya no problem. Then you apply Characterization, then load animation, or create it as you see fit. You can aply textures, shaders, lights all in real-time. Then render. Now the demo, not sure what is available, displacement is not yet. I’m going through the latest version now to check it out. I would usually render under a REYES system so I only use MB for animating. I hope that gets you started…
In about 2 months, the new release(2.36) will have a completly redone animation system that will really rock. It’s great now, but will even be better next release!
Hahaha… Do you know how many times over the years I have heard this… ‘In about 2 months, the new release(xxxx) will have a completly redone animation system that will really rock. It’s great now, but will even be better next release!’ Sorry, I just have a hard time recommending something that is not ready to really be used in the real world. However those that want to play with it, go right ahead I have seen some good stills. It’s sort of like recommending Animation Master, it can do great animation as long as you follow rules that don’t apply in any other application and you want to endure it’s weird requirement for models and lack of render quality.
Perhaps I do look at it from the highend of the scale, but I have seen so many young/new people with fustration over the simplest animation principles when trying to do the work in anything but the established highend apps. I suppose that free is rather enticing though…
I would also suggest Motion Builder 6.
If you haven’t done any animation work 'til now it should be even easier for you to begin with. It has a very quick rigging system and a live preview of the animation.
Post your works when you are done!!!
I don’t know who told you that, but they obviously werent in touch with the blender developement at all.
Since the blender source was bought by the blender community, it has followed a pretty strict plan on upgrading itself.
AFAIK, there has not been any real work done on the animation system since then, nor has anyone been saying that.
2 releases ago they upgraded things like the render system, YafRay integration and some texture/material issues and new shaders.
last release was update of the mesh modeling system with more advanced modes of selecting and moving.
next release is going to have many redone animation code, plus a new transformation system.
This is the first time that any real work has bene put into the animation system since it went open source, and I think you are being a bit unfair to paint the portrait that it constantly makes promises and doesn’t keep them, or that it is somehow always lagging behind.
Anyway, I’ll admit that it doesn’t have a decent cloth or physics portion of animation, but it is certainly sufficient for rigging a model and animating it, whether its walking across the room or doing backflips and gymnastics.
I know that blender isn’t as good as the expensive packages, but at the same time, it HAS kept up with its promises for releases and is constantly improving by leaps and bounds each release.
It also can put out great animation and great skills…so give it a try
I think Il take a little break from motionbuilder for a hour or 2 as I havent got anywhere at all? Im just sitting here looking puzzled im sure! not knowing what the hell iv got to do? Iv watched the video demos of it and it dont show nothink about how to set up a modle imported from what iv watched so far. The program looks very well layed out so I will stick to it for a little while longer.
I have never even looked a any animated software before but have a basic idear how it should work.
tez - I sent you a private message. I’ll help you get set up offline, as I don’t think it’s appropriate here. Then you can come back and show your success.
