Very nice work.
That’s beautiful work. Would you mind talking a little about your workflow on the roman model?
I love it, awsome renders to, the rotation of the ROman is great! nice job.
was a good reel, disfigured man at the begining had too many spins on it. i think you should add more animation to it. i just cant stand everyones models are standing on a peice of round wood. why isnt anyone doing animation in their reels like above in the highlighted thread, andrew hwang. environments/models/animation in 1-2 spins, then moves on.
Awsome job!
How did u make the video into quicktime from zbrush?
WOW…
thank you everyone for the comments, and stars.
for the roman, i did a thread WIP here of him… i will suss out the URL, and post it up here, so you can see a bit of how i made him.
@aceala - sorry for the lack of animation there bro, if i was as stronger animator as i am modeller, i would for sure put them in… but im a modeller and texture artist, so i guess no need? the animation was done by image-metrics, company i did work for.
I actually rendered it all in maya, and then did the post production in After Effects, which im not so savvy with!
thanks again everyone!
cheers
Fantastic work, you’ve got my 5 stars
Great choice of music btw. Are you a fan of requiem for a dream?
I found the WIP. So you created the armor as an integral part of the mesh using Zbrush? Or modelled it separately in Silo and/or Maya, then worked on the merged mesh in Zbrush?
Thanks!
@ Lead Baloon - Thanks man, yea, i did like the movie… but realy liked that song, the other song is from one of the members of Sigur Ros.
@ Braindrop - Hi man, thanks for the coments… yea, the model for the armour was all made seperately and detailed in ZB, here’s a shot of just the armour.
Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for the pic.

Wonderful modeling and texturing.
I really enjoyed this reel, good models, good music and good length
I’m very impressed with how the movie streams so quickly, considering the length and the image quality. If you don’t mind me asking, . .
How was it compressed/ which version of Quicktime is it ?
Fantastic stuff.
I’ll look out for your name in the future.
Don’t know what he used, but grab ffmpeg and you can do really high quality in small file sizes of nearly every format known. A lot faster than Quicktime app as well. Don’t get me wrong Quicktime is great, unless you need something done fast.
Rocking Demo!!!
Can you talk about the animation of the Grotesque Man? I heard of the new facial animation technology, but did they offer that at your school or was that a professional job?
Thanks.
Animation: we took Andrew’s Grotesque and model and rigged it with our muscle based rigging system that we have developed at Image Metrics. See Samburu Warrior on our website (www.image-metrics.com) for another example rig and animation. We used an actor to play the part of Grotesque, our animation technology then drove the Grotesque facial rig based on the actor’s movements. Our rigging system is designed for humans so that’s why some of the mouth movements could be smoother, Andrew designed a beautiful model but that odd shaped mouth caused us some rigging issues
Yes, I saw the video report on NYT, and wondering if a school had this system. So you guys hooked up with the artist, this new technology is not available in schools?
After I saw the NYT video I was convinced you guys are the next wave for mocap facial systems in Hollywood. I don’t know how commercially available your system but my concern was if it was going to be available for the Mac.
I have a MacPro now so I guess it wouldn’t matter but I hope you guys keep us in mine.
Best of luck with Hollywood.

Thanks TrueBlue - Image-Metrics technology blows me away, so i reccomend anyone who is reading this thread to go have a look at the web page, cause it is the future of facial animation. I was very honoured to be apart of both projects i did for image-metrics.
@AVTpro - i think that answered your question about the school project or job. Im guessing the technology might be a little advanced for schools? at my old school we’ve got the oldest mocap set-up in the world! and nothing for facial.
@ SS810 - it was a flash compression that the guys used who are hosting it. not 100% sure what exactly, they are hosting that to me as a favour for some work i did for them.
Gonna be launching my website soon, so keep posted!
thanks again for all the comments… and if you are looking for a modeller! look no further! ha ha
this is really cool stuff
congratulation
i wrote you a pm ^^

Hey TrueBlue
I noticed the 30" Apple monitor, I have one of those. So it is a Mac app? That’s great.
Sorry, we don’t sell the software, we only use it internally … right now. Generally we use it on Windows but it would work on a MAC if necessary.
Andrew, I’m not trying to steal your thread here I asked a colleague to send your reel to the 3 big vfx houses in London by the way. He has some contacts there.
Hey David!
its all good. and thanks so much for doing that! Really appreciate it.
Will keep in touch…
and thanks to everyone else for commenting on here!
